Off-topic thread & group rules

Rules   Apart from normal, courteous behaviour to fellow posters, we don’t ask much. But we DO ask that you post in the appropriate threads, and that you don’t tout for business (yes, that includes breeders) or post spam. Try to be tolerant of other people’s views and keep arguments to a minimum.

Medication  Unless you’re a qualified vet with a proper understanding of the case, please don’t recommend medication for sick dogs and cats – apart from general advice. Please also treat any such recommendations you read on here and other social media sites with caution. Incorrect medication or dosage can do more harm than good, even when it’s offered in good faith.

Swearing  Many people find swearing offensive, so please keep it to a minimum if you have to do it at all. Applies to both Bangla and English.

Please put all off-topic posts in the daily Off-Topic thread.

What is off-topic? Off-topic means something not related to street dogs or cats.

Why should I?  Because this group is about street dogs (and cats) in Kolkata. People join the group because they’re interested in street dogs. It’s not fair if they have to scroll through a load of other posts about Labradors, birds, snakes, fish, or even guru-ji fortune teller adverts to find what interests them. Help to keep the main page clear for posts about street dogs and cats, and use the off-topic thread for everything else.

Where is the off-topic thread?  Every day, it’s ‘pinned’ at the top of the main page. It looks like this:

Monday

OFF-TOPIC POSTS THAT REMAIN ON THE MAIN PAGE WILL BE DELETED. PLEASE DON’T COMPLAIN WHEN THEY ARE.

Safety online  Please be cautious in sharing your personal contact details with people you don’t know. Never agree to meet someone you ‘know’ on social media without telling a trusted friend or family member where you’re going and the name and contact details of the person you’re meeting.
